"By the help of an image I call to my own opposite, summon all That I have handled least, least looked upon." -- W.B.Yeats

View

Among stark white houses held
by their red tiles down
beside a sea of real blue
a youth meanders in the sun's
eyebeam. From one shady portal
something welcomes him
into a patio with lemon trees.

On Corfu

Loving Eos strips to their rocks
the most ancient islands
amid their green and purple waters

Under the brightening sky
her desiccated spouse shudders and yearns

Honey drips over the brown crust

The smell of dusty thyme

Apostle Papageorge guide
cable address AMEXCO
passes scratching
his behind

To the Mountain

How,
together,
flow,
cor
cordium,
pure
lava,
pure
snow?

What Am I Doing

                                in Newfoundland?
It is spring; the snow is groin deep.

The cleaning woman tells me her five daughters
all married American airmen and flew to New York.

At the Base Exchange I buy Brown Mule chewing tobacco
for her invalid husband. Paris is on this latitude.

A Being in a Square

A being in a square
inside a rectangle
inside a square locked in
a grid emitted from
two ducts two crystal cubes
because all angles not
obtuse and not acute
are right.
