Now
very closer to “Candia”, another ANEK ship: however it seems that the two ships
were not sisters under the Japanese flag. The aspect of “Rethimnon” seems to me
that under the name “Central No 5” was a freighter. I had the occasion to
travel aboard her on September 1991 from Heraklion to Piraeus: the impression I
remember of this ship is of one small but well mantained. From 2001 she’ll not
be part of the Chania-based fleet, being sold to a United Arab Emirates company
to link their main port to Bahrain and Iraq.
