My sources about the former names are a little discordant. Built in
1973, she has similarities with “El Greco” (probably they were sisters under
Japanese flag) was purchased by Minoan in 1989, aiming to open a Piraeus -
Istanbul service. Was instead put between Ancona, Corfu, Igoumenitsa and Patras
nel 1991, after a considerable refit, together with “King Minos” and “Fedra”.
She remained on Ancona Line until 1995, when the Joint-venture with Strintzis
Lines was estabilished and the three best Minoan ships on Ancona Line were put
on Venice line: the “Daedalus”, toghether with “Fedra” and “El Greco”, together
with “Ionian Island” of Strintzis. The “Daedalus” remained always on Venice
Line, now together with “Fedra”, “Aretousa” and “Erotokritos”. After her stop of October 2000 due to safety
reasons, she was back in Venice service in 2001, connecting on Summer Venice to
Patras on Wednesday at 16.00 and Saturday at 24.00 and returning back from
Patras on Monday at 21.00 and Friday at 10.30. From Autumn 2001 she is
connecting Thessaloniki with Heraklion via Sporades and Cyclades.
